Van Diaz Panga w/pics

We visited the Van (from Van Wormer) Diaz (from Lupe Diaz) factory in Los Barriles to see a 23' panga:

Nice. But not cheap. Base price for the pictured Deportiva 23 is $8200 for hull, deck, floor. The pictured model would price out at about 15 grand, not including the T top, and of course an engine.

They also make other sizes and models, 21' to 25', and cruisers.

Lets see now, I read that as not including an engine.

We have a price list. Sorry I don't have a scanner.

Examples of optional equipment:
Center consol $820
Seat for center console $460
73 gallon fuel tank $750
Steering system: Mechanical $550 or hydraulic $1700
control cables $250
Windshield with handrail $450
Bow rail $650
Stainless rod holders $60 each
switch and fuse panel $350
Transom rail $250
Head $550
Bilge pump complete system $200
battery and switch system $300

Also cleats, installation of electronics

T-Top....not on the price list but a bimini is $680
Trailer...not on price list

So with mechanical steering and 4 rod holders we're up over $5500 in "extras" and no motor, trailer or top. And not including sales taxes. OK, I'd ditch the head and save a few bucks.

They had a well equipped more basic model that would run about 8 grand, according to a top-of-the-head estimate of the man guiding us around. No floor, and the gunnels were wood, not fiberglass like the deluxe "Deportiva" model.

IMO, too expensive. But will we buy one? Ahhhh...maybe.:biggrin:

I also am editing the picture post to give a phone # and email addy.

i looked at those Florida pangas USA. nice stuff but once laid out with all the goodies, they're expensive too! and then, they're in FL so you have to go get or have shipped, very expensive either way and who has time to go and tow?
